New to the Honors Program? This two-day workshop is strongly encouraged for faculty and staff who are new to the University Honors Program. It introduces them to the mission of the program, the expectations for faculty, staff and students, and issues related to working with high-ability students. Participants will be invited to draw upon past experiences and knowledge and interact with each other to develop new strategies for developing students inside and outside the classroom.

For more information contact Dr. Carolyn Haynes (haynesca@muohio.edu)

The University Honors Program is committed to enriching the work of faculty and staff and helping them to continue to grow as educators. We offer a various forms of support:

Workshop Series:
Each year, honors faculty and staff are invited to attend a series of workshops designed to introduce them to the program mission and expectations and to encourage new approaches to teaching and learning.

Peer Review of Teaching:
To assist faculty and staff in their professional development, the Honors administration will conduct informal observations of the classroom or co-curricular program and offer feedback. We will also conduct more formal peer reviews which entails setting goals for improvement, observing three or more sessions, discussing outcomes, and preparing a written document offering feedback
Honors Faculty and Staff BlackBoard Site:
All faculty and staff leading courses or co-curricular programs are automatically given access to the Faculty & Staff Blackboard site which provides detailed information on the program, including requirements for students, sample syllabi and assignments, funding opportunities, and other resources.

Funding for Course and Co-Curricular Programs and Activities
Limited funding is available for special course and co-curricular activities and projects. Faculty and staff may request funds when they complete their course or co-curricular program proposal form.
