Below are some additional tips on preparing various components of your scholarship or fellowship application:

The University Honors Program is committed to assisting all Miami University students and alumni identify, plan for, and win national scholarships and fellowships in pursuit of their life goals and dreams.
If you have the following, then you may be eligible for one or more prestigious fellowships:
- a cumulative grade point average of 3.75 or higher;
- a history of substantial intellectual or creative projects;
- evidence of exemplary leadership or public service; and
- three or more faculty members who can write you detailed letters of support?
These fellowships are designed for individuals who plan to pursue:
- Graduate school
- Study abroad
- Professional development

| Getting Started |
Although all fellowships and scholarships are unique, the process for getting started is similar to all of them.
Here are some basic tips:
- Identify your passion. Reflect on what you love to learn and do. Ask yourself: When have I been so engrossed in something that I did not want to stop? What would I like to do with my life? What do I care most about or would like most to change in the world?
- Pursue courses and other challenging learning opportunities that relate to your passion.
- Consider becoming involved in research, internships, study abroad experiences or community service that relate to your passion.
- Expand your knowledge of the world by reading newspapers or scholarly journals and attending public lectures and cultural events.
- Build relationships with faculty members, particularly those who have knowledge in your areas of interest.
- Take initiative to address a problem, lead a project, or organize an event.
- Research possible scholarships or fellowships on this site and through various search engines, and identify those that are aligned with your areas of interest.
- If the fellowship you select requires an institutional endorsement, complete the preliminary request for information form and contact Jeff Ruder at ruderj@muohio.edu for an appointment.
- Use this site, your faculty mentors and other resources to help you to prepare your application.
