Internship/Service Experience:
I completed my internship at Changing Worlds, a Chicago-based organization dedicated to enhancing cross-cultural awareness through literacy and the arts. They work primarily in Chicago Public Schools located in communities with large immigrant populations. I was very excited that I got to take on my own project. I started an oral history project highlighting the contributions that Chicago immigrants and refugees are making in their communities. I transcribed interviews and wrote them into stories that will be published by Changing Worlds down the road. I was welcomed as a part of their team and learned a lot about Chicago by working there. I loved being a part of this organization... small by number but huge in the impact it is making.
