Internship/Service Experience:
Through ULIP I interned at Children's Memorial Hospital (CMH) with the Protective Services Team.  Along with another ULIP intern, Justin Leung, I examined the incidence of Shaken Baby Syndrome in Chicago area hospitals.  Part of the project involved trying to expand CMH's prevention program to other hospitals.  This involved traveling to the hospitals and meeting with their Prenatal nurses.  During these meetings, we showed the nurses methods by which they can make expecting parents more informed of what to expect from their newborn baby.  We also met with Prevent Child Abuse Illinois to discuss funding for Shaken Baby Syndrome and their involvement with hospitals in Illinois.
